DUMBARTON OAKS GARDEN: HOW TO SPEND A MAGICAL AFTERNOON IN GEORGETOWN

Dumbarton Oaks Garden in DC's historic neighborhood of Georgetown is something out of a European travel magazine. Stepping into this breathtaking green space brought back memories of the extravagant gardens I've visited during my wanderings around Florence. If you're looking for a relaxing escape from the city's hustle and bustle, then you'll love weaving through flower-adorned paths and breathing in the heavenly scent of blooming wisteria.

Originally the country house and garden were founded in 1920. Though the owners eventually expanded the property to take up fifty three acres. Hence the massive grounds that are so beautifully well-kept and ready for visitors to explore. In addition to the gardens, there is also a museum that houses collections of Byzantine and Pre-Columbian art.

How to Get to Dumbarton Oaks Garden

Take the red metro line to Dupont Circle to catch either the D2 or D6 bus. Then once you're at Q St NW & 31st St NW, it's a quick 5-minute walk to the entrance.

The grand wisteria-covered trellises in the Pebble Garden are, in my extremely biased opinion, the most captivating part of the property! Originally designed to be a tennis court, the pebble garden uses stones imported from Mexico and reflects the Italian style. Also to add even more elegance to the space is a fountain embellished with 18th century French sculptures. Such an enchanting landscape surrounded me, while the delicate fragrance of the flowers enveloped me. It was as if it I was living a scene from Bridgerton. ;)
