VENICE PHOTOGRAPHY SPOTS: CAPTURING THE BEAUTY OF LA SERENISSIMA
Venice has no shortage of stunning spots for photography lovers. During a short trip with one of my best friends, I captured the opulent beauty of this floating city with my camera. We explored the narrow canals and alleyways of the historic main island, and wandered around the colorful island of Burano.
On a cold sunny day in mid-November, we visited the iconic Libreria Acqua Alta. The meaning in English is "high water book shop". The name refers to the flooding that occurs in the city at times. Its most unique attraction is in the courtyard, a staircase built from stacks of worn out books. And while browsing the shop, I came across a painted box of old stationery. Then I read the following quote: "Una gondola ti ha portato via, una gondola ti riporterà da me", which means, “a gondola took you away, a gondola will bring you back to me”.
The city’s romantic allure can be found anywhere you go. You can see it when crossing the bridges, sailing along the canal, or peeking inside an artisan's shop. Even when you step outside of the train station, you gaze upon historic buildings floating on the water. Here are the moments of serenity and beauty that I captured while in Venice…

Taking the Sunday morning ferry to Burano was a quiet and peaceful time. We arrived early enough in the day to find the town still sleeping. So we were able to admire the rainbow buildings with few crowds. Each house displayed a vibrant hue, some were pastel shades and others were bold colors. You can see the character in every facade, decorated with plants on the window sills and hung laundry drying on the line.
