POSTCARDS FROM ROME: INSPIRING VIEWS OF THE ETERNAL CITY

Looking back on photos from my travels through Italy always transports me to times of witnessing so much beauty, like in Rome. It's as if there's a warm orange tone cast over the entire city. Evoking feelings of nostalgia and yearning for another era. While this stunning place carries so much historical significance, I've found some small moments of quiet beauty that make this place all the more mesmerizing. So here is a little visual collection of a summer in Roma...

A Photo Walk through Rome Italy

A few popular sites to see right in the city center are:

  • Castel Sant'Angelo - This was initially a mausoleum for Roman emperor Hadrian and his family. Then it was converted to a fortress and castle used by various popes, and is now a museum.

  • Piazza Navona - This square was originally constructed in 86 AD and would hold athletic competitions. Today it houses breathtaking Baroque fountains and sculptural works by artists such as Bernini and Borromini.

  • Fontana di Trevi - Another infamous Baroque architectural masterpiece, this iconic fountain was initially designed by Salvi in the 18th century. There is a sculptural representation of the god of the ocean in the middle, statues of women draped in flowy garments and men with horses.

Giardino degli Aranci

Also called Il Parco Savello, this peaceful hilltop garden gives gorgeous views of the city from above and of the Tiber River. Another splendid view you can find nearby is in Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta. There is a peephole you can look through to see the dome of St. Peter's Basilica.

Musei Capitolini

First created during the fifteenth century, these museums house a grand collection of sculptural works and more. The most noteworthy pieces are the Capitoline She-wolf (the symbol of the city) and the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius.
