THE BEACHES OF AGISTRI GREECE AND THEIR STUNNING NATURE VIEWS
No matter where you go in Greece, there is no shortage of idyllic seascapes. During my summer visit, I was able to discover the best beaches for nature views on the island of Agistri. This little gem in the Saronic Gulf is close to Athens, about 1.5 hours by ferry.
Some of the island's beaches are easy to reach with a short bus ride, and have organized clubs with umbrellas and food options. Meanwhile others require hiking through the forest and steep climbing. However, all of them will leave you in awe of some wonderful panoramas.
Aponisos
All shades of turquoise glisten in these clear and deep waters. There are views of nearby islands across the way. Also the lush forest and hills behind form a picturesque backdrop for a swim. Many visitors dock their boats here as well. The 5 euro entrance fee to this organized club gives you access to 3 large beach areas. Each is set up with umbrellas and sun beds near the water. There is no sand but instead dirt areas and large rocks. In addition, you can order food and drinks from the menu posted on your umbrella. After pressing a button, a staff member will come by to serve you. They even have animals living on the property, the most beautiful ones being the peacocks!
Dragonera
The land surrounding this beach is unique with orange rocky terrain. Small stones make up the shore and the clear water is shallow. And in the surrounding forests you see people camping. Some boats sail by the area, and jet skis are popular here too. On one side there is a small beach bar with sun beds and umbrellas. But you can claim a spot in the carved out pockets of land beside the water. The calm atmosphere is perfect for watching the sun go down.
Chalikiada
The steep and difficult descent to this place is worth it for the gorgeous island views. The seaside hike leads you through the forest. After arriving at a cliffside, you climb down to reach the beach. You can see the mountains and other islands from above. And boats leisurely drift in and out on the water. There is no sand here but large white stones, so bring your comfy shoes. The area is popular among campers, and it is also a nude-friendly beach. The environment here is secluded and relaxed, exactly how I like to feel when immersed in nature.
In between exploring Agistri's beaches, you can also discover the villages around the island. While wandering around Skala, I captured some moments of beauty and daily life.
